POWERGRID constructs two buildings in Ferozpur under CSR

FEROZEPUR, Nov 17: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna PSU under Ministry of Power, Government of India, has constructed two Public Heath Centre buildings at Mallanwala and Kassoana as part of its CSR initative for strengthening the medical infrastructure in the aspirational district of Ferozepur in Punjab.
Kailash Rathore, Executive Director, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Northern Region-II in the august presence of Naresh Kataria, MLA, Jira, Ferozepur District and Amrit Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (Firozpur) handed over two newly constructed Public Heath Centre buildings at Mallanwala and Kassoana to Civil Surgeon Ferozepur. Sathish Kumar J, Chief General Manager (Moga), POWERGRID, and other senior officers from District administration; Health department, Firozpur and POWERGRID were present on this occasion.
These PHC buildings have been constructed under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at a cost of Rs.3.19 crore. This CSR Project is a flagship initiative of the Government of India in partnership with the State Governments, towards transformation of Aspirational Districts under which a concerted effort is being made to rapidly transform 117 Aspirational Districts across the country and Ferozepur district is one of them, which was assigned to POWERGRID for the said purpose. This initiative of POWERGRID will help in providing good health facilities to the poor and underprivileged population of more than 25000 in Mallanwala, Kassoana and other nearby villages of district Ferozepur.
Prior to this, POWERGRID had handed over 03 nos. ambulances to Civil Surgeon, Ferozepur in January 2021, under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), at a total cost of Rs.44 lakhs. With this initiative of POWERGRID, the Patients are being benefitted by providing faster transportation to hospitals
In addition to above, 282 Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines and 282 Incinerators have been installed by POWERGRID in 217 Middle, High and Senior Secondary Schools of District Ferozepur, Punjab under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This work was completed at a cost of Rs. 1.83 Crore benefitting more than 22,000 girl students.
As a responsible Corporate Citizen, POWERGRID has been extending support for development of various infrastructure activities in the state of Punjab through its CSR initiatives amounting to approximately Rs 10 crores during last three years.
POWERGRID is continuously doing CSR activities in health sector especially in the government hospitals of rural and urban areas across the country with the belief that creation of medical facilities is important for ensuring that government Hospitals are able to cater to the medical requirements of the general masses.
Power Grid Corporation of India limited is a Maharatna Enterprise under Ministry of Power having its regional headquarters of Northern Region-II at Jammu. POWERGRID is engaged in inter-state bulk power transmission. POWERGRID has 173,720 ckm of transmission lines, 269Sub-stations and more than 489,912 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, POWERGRID has been able to maintain average transmission system availability >99%. POWERGRID performance has been consistently Excellent by achieving very difficult measurable parameters which are set in MoU signed with Ministry of Power, Government of India.
POWERGRID, Northern Region -II with headquarter in Jammu is having its Transmission System spread over in the States of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, parts of Haryana and UT of Chandigarh, Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir.
