Digvijay’s cheap publicity stunt
1/24/2023 10:52:55 PM
Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by snubbing Digvijay Singh on his remarks on surgical strikes has tried to do damage control.
Singh last week had said that there is no proof of surgical strikes. Rahul termed his remarks as personal and ridiculous. He made it clear that the Congress Party has full faith in the Army and it disagrees with the views of their party colleague.
By questioning 2016 surgical strikes Digvijay Singh has triggered a row across the country.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had alleged that “Congress’ DNA is in favour of Pakistan” and “it’s an attempt to demoralize the Army”.
By disowning Digvijay Singh’s statement, Rahul Gandhi has tried to douse the flames and is trying to strike a chord with the people. Bharat Jodo Yatra is in Jammu and in coming days it will be going to Kashmir.
He has struck the wrong chord at the wrong place. His statement has annoyed the nationalist people of Jammu and many are seeing it as an attempt to appease the Kashmir centric leaders, who after the abrogation of Article 370 are finding it hard to make a comeback.
Digvijay Singh in order to score points over BJP has crossed the line by putting the question mark at Army’s action against the terrorists.
It seems that the Congress leader is finding it hard to believe that his party has an uphill task to climb as the popularity graph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is rising with each passing day.
Many people are demanding that Digvijay Singh should apologize for his remarks. His statement has dented the credibility of the Congress Party. He has not done any service to Rahul’s yatra by stoking a controversy at a wrong time and place.
Rahul while addressing a news conference in Jammu stated that armed forces are doing their job exceptionally well and they do not need to provide proof for anything.
By seeking a proof for the surgical strikes, Digvijay Singh has hogged the headlines but it has proven to be a cheap publicity stunt.
Rahul has been left to douse the flames and instead of getting connected with people, now he is trying to clarify the position of his party.
