Desh Bhagat radio celebrates ‘Chandigarh Bollywood Day’

MANDI GOBINDGARH, Apr 4: Desh Bhagat Radio 107.8 FM (Aap Ki Aawaaz) celebrated 'Chandigarh Bollywood Day' with great enthusiasm, marked by a cake-cutting ceremony held under the guidance of DB Radio Station Head Ms. Sanghmitra.
The event was graced by prominent personalities from the Punjabi music and film industry, including renowned film producer and actor Darshan Aulakh, Mr. Vimal Trikha, founder member of the Chandigarh Bollywood Facilitation Cell and film producer Mr. Jasbir Dhillon. The distinguished guests appreciated the initiative taken by Desh Bhagat Radio in commemorating this significant day.
On the occasion, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University and Chairman of Desh Bhagat United & Desh Bhagat Radio, remarked, "It is from this day and date that Chandigarh began attracting Bollywood stars and directors for film shoots in the City Beautiful. Since then, Punjabi film directors have increasingly chosen Chandigarh and the Tricity as preferred shooting destinations."
Er. Sandeep Singh, President of Desh Bhagat University and Director of Desh Bhagat Radio, formally welcomed the guests. Dr Tejinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, highlighted the significance of celebrating this special day.
It is noteworthy that April 3 holds historical importance for Chandigarh's association with Bollywood. On this day, legendary stars of the Indian film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Hema Malini, and acclaimed filmmaker Yash Chopra gathered with a large crew of over 200 members at Hotel Mountview for the shooting of the iconic film Veer-Zaara. The shoot in and around Chandigarh was arranged by Darshan Aulakh's production team. This landmark moment continues to symbolize Chandigarh's growing prominence as a favored destination for Bollywood and Punjabi film productions.
