Inter-Bn tournament of Armed Police begins Ct Ram Lal bags wing 21 kms half marathon

JAMMU, Mar 10: Constable Ram Singh of IRP 13th Bn clinched first place in 21 kilometers half marathon on the opening day of the five-day long annual inter-battalion tournament of Armed Police at Gulshan Grounds, here amidst march-past and oath taking ceremony by the participants.
Second place went to Constable Javeed Ahmad of IRP 8th Bn, while Constable Nissar Ahmad of IRP 9th Bn remained third.
Earlier, Inspector General of Police, Armed, Dilbag Singh declared open tournament wherein 543 male and 207 female athletes drawn from 24 Armed and IRP units of the police shall be fighting for the top honours.
Besides athletics, the competitions shall be held in team events of basketball, volleyball, tug-of-war, boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, football, handball, kabaddi, swimming, hockey and shooting as also officers events of badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis and newly introduced billiards and snooker.
Speaking to the participants, IGP wished them good luck during the five-day of competitions and hoped that the games shall be conducted in true spirit of sports.
Earlier, organizing secretary of the tournament, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Armed) welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished gathering present in the inaugural function.
