JAMMU, Mar 12: The state vigilance organisation (SVO), Kashmir, today produced a challan against a patwari in the court of special judge, anti-corruption, Srinagar, in a corruption case.Abdul Qayum Dar, patwari, halka Kralpora Chadoora and Sathu Kathair Bagh, Budgam, allegedly demanded Rs 1,000 as bribe from one Wahid Jeelani Dar of Sheikhul Alam Colony in October last year for furnishing a report about the mortage of his land. When Qayum allegedly refused to give him report unless he gave him the bribe of Rs 1,000, he approached SVO, Kashmir, and lodged a written complaint against him.
Acting on the complaint, the SVO laid a trap and arrested Qayum red-handed on October 6, 2009, while accepting Rs 1,000 as bribe from Jeelani. He was then booked under section 5(I) (d) read with Section 5(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 2006 and Section 161, 120-B of RPC. After completing probe into the matter, the SVO today produced challan against the patwari in the court of special judge anti-corruption, Srinagar.
