Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 1: The separatst factions have come to a severe criticism from the civil society in Kahsmir for their changing stance on the holding of dialgue with Government as people from all shades of opinion in Valley want them to come on negotiating table to hold parlays with the Union Governemnt in ending the prevailing imbroglio.
According to sources people of the Valley who are now fed up with the ongoing agitation long for total peace and tranqulity. They are pressing hard the sepratists to give up their rigid stand and hold dialogue with the Government which has recently announced an eight- point initiative to solve the prevailing crisis in Valley.
This is ther eason that the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front supremo Yasin Malik's stand is being considered a positive sign for resolution of the issue and almost all people in the Valley have welcomed him for saying that the violence was no solution to the problem and all issues can be resolved by sitting across the table.
The sources said Mr Malik has himself come to udnerstand that 21 year long turmoil and gun culture which was started by him as the founding memebr of JKLF in 1989 has added to the problems of Kashmiri masses and snatched their peace of mind besides giving a lot of setback to the economy of the state in general and Kashmir Valley in particular. Knowing fully the repercussions of the prolonged agitation will not be good for the people of the Valley where over 100 lives have been lost in over last three months of agitation and violence, Mr Malik has now softened his stand and by showing willingness in holding dialogue with the Government after the announcment of Centre's eight point initiative on Kashmir, sources added.
Sources said the statement has been welcomed by the common Kashmiri who is totally fed up with the constant strikes and curfews. While terming the statement of the JKLF supremo a step in right direction the civil society of Kashmir is hopeful that the separatist leader will lead the other organisations in breaking the ice by holding palays with the Government. This will be a great service to the people of Kashmir who have suffered a lot due to the proxy war launched by the Pakistan, sources added.Sources said however the stand of JKLF supremo showing willingness for talks has irked the Hurriyat hardliner faction
Sources said the growing rift among the various factions of separtists including the two factions of Hurriyat i .e moderate led by Moulvi Umar Farooq and the hardliner group led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani is an indication that the two factions of the separtists do not possess the same views on the Kashmir issue. Moreover Mr Geelani has drawn flak from Yasin Malik recently when he strongly objected the hardlienr Hurriayt leader's statement regarding the resolution of Kashmir issue.
To outwit Syed Ali Shah Geelani and his organisation Mr Malik has openly advocated peace saying good buy to violence and holding parlays with the Governemnt was the only alternative to end the present crisis in the Valley. Thouhg his stand has been opposed by Mr Geelani's organisation, the common masses in Kashmir favour the stand of JKLF supremo and have shown willingnes sto extend their support to any one who is ready in holding a meanigful dailogue with Government for restoration of normalcy in the Valley, the sources added.
Sources said even moderate Hurriyat faction has also shown its willingness in the parlays, but inview of the rigid stand taken by Syed Ali Shah Geelani it has preferred to play safe by raking up the issue of human rights violations etc. However a seizable number of people in Kashmir is of the view that the alleged human rights violation in Kashmir is the result of the prolonged bandh calls given by separatists by issuing calandars day in and day out in this regard.
