Gang war averted, six held with weapons | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 11: Police averted an apparent gang war when it arrested six gangsters during different raids conducted in city today. Police recovered two country made pistols (katta) and two sharp edged weapons from their possession. On specific information that a gang war was imminent between Bakra group and Billu group in city, Sarwal police conducted raids and arrested six gangsters of Billu gang. Police came to know about a possible attack on the revelation of one of the gangsters of Billu group identified as Sanjay Dogra son of Kasturi Lal Dogra. Sanjay was arrested by police with a sharp edged weapon from New Plot area two days back. He told police that they hatched a plan to kill Vinu Nai, a gangster of Bakra group, in a Sarwal based gym. Vinu allegedly shot Sanjay six months ago in which latter had narrow escape in New Plot area. On the disclosure of Sanjay, police team led by IC PP Sarwal Deepak Pathania conducted a raid in a Sarwal located gym and arrested his owner Parveen Kumar son of Des Raj who during interrogation told the name of other gangsters as Bipan Kumar alias Bunty son of Prem Kumar resident of Prem Nagar, Mohiudin son of Saryad Din resident of Gujjar Nagar, Imran Bhatt son of Mehboob Butt resident of Gujjar Nagar and Sonu Toppi of city. Accordingly police conducted raids at their respective residences and arrested them. One Katta was recovered from Sanjay Dogra's residence and another katta was recovered from Sonu Toppi's residence. Police also recovered a sharp edged weapon from the residence of Bipan Kumar. Searches were on to arrest Vinu Nai who was absconding. A case in this connection has also been registered against them at Bakshi Nagar police station.
