| Agro industry sealed at Vijaypur | | |
JAMMU, Mar 14: An agro industry was today sealed by the Samba district administration at Nihalki near Sarore Bus Stand, about 20 km from here On the Jammu-Vijaypur road.
The industry was sealed on the complaints of locals, official sources said.
Sources said locals made a complaint with pollution control board (PCB) that foul smell emanating from Gulab Agro Industries at Nihalki had made their lives hell.
After the board people took up the matter with Samba deputy commissioner, he deputed DIC general manager Pradeep Manhas, tehsildar (settlement) Ravinder Sharma and naib-tehsildar Rampal to
visit the factory and look into the allegations of the people.
Sources said when the team members found that the factory owner, a NC worker, did not have the requisite PCB no-objection certificate and DIC papers, they sealed the factory.
The factory manufactured fire briquettes and used coal dust, charcoal and poultry waste as raw material. A case was likely to be registered against the factory owner.
