Gen Hasnain fears rise in infiltration | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, May 15 (KNS): The GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain Sunday feared that infiltration might increase in the coming days from across the LoC. Talking to KNS on the sidelines of a function, organized by 140 Infantry Brigade in north Kashmir’s Karnah area, he said, “After the killing of Al-Qaeda chief, Osama Bin Laden, there are fears that Pakistan might try to infiltrate more militants. There are a large number of militants waiting to infiltrate.” However, the GOC said that Amry was ready to cope up with any situation. “Army is already on alert to thwart any such attempt,” he added. Gen Hasnain said that there was no tension between Indian and Pakistani troops on LoC. “Both armies have better coordination on LoC now and there is no tension,” he said. The GOC claimed that situation in Jammu and Kashmir was returning to normalcy. “Army is carrying out different developmental works in remote areas for civilian population under operation Sadhbavana. This has helped the people in these areas a lot.” Gen Hasnain alongwith General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Army’s northern command Lt General K T Parnaik, carried out a detailed tour of LoC in Karnah and Tanghdar. Lt General Parnaik while addressing the officers and jawans of 140 Infantry Brigade in Karnah said that same people were destroying Pakistan today ‘who had been given shelter by that country.’ “As shall you sow, so shall you reap hold true for Pakistan. They are being targeted by the same people today whom they had created to harm others,” he said.
