EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May 15 : BJP's Disciplinary Action Committee which is meeting for next meeting on May 20 is likely to see presence of some supended MLAs of the party against who the proceedings are going on over the issue of cross voting during LC polls last month.
According to sources, the Disciplinary panel which deferred its decision as to what action needs to be taken against these MLAs, is now contemplating to listen afresh the view point and version of the MLAs apart from what they have submitted in their written replies. Sources said the panel which has seniormost and seasoned members on board and is led by OP Kohli, erstwhile in charge of the J&K affairs, has sent the message to the MLAs that if they wish to come and present themselves physcially in front of the members , they can come on May 20 when the commitee meets next.
Though this is not a formal instruction or directive from the panel, sources said in a way the panel is offering the members a choice and chance to present their view point over the issue and clarify their position in a candid manner rather than going in haphazrad directions and raising allegations. This is also being seen as a move by the panel to take a just and fair view of the things in the entire issue particularly in the aftermath of the brazen allegations levelled by the MLAs against the leadership while questioning their modus operandi and the parameter adopted in singling them out as guilty lot. Notwithstanding the fact that almost all the suspended MLAs have gone all out in defiance of what high command proceeded with, the Disciplinary panel even after having taken serious note of anti party activities and defiance at all levels, is believed to be of the opinion to give one more chance to the legislators to speak for themselves and make their position clear so that some contradictions which have emerged in the process also get removed from all aspects.
The ball once again lies in the court of the legislators and it is for them to decide whether they are interested to attend the meeting called by the panel on May 20 or not pay any heed, in the backdrop of the fact that most of them have raised revolt and rebellion against the high command and appear to be defiant what the national leadership asks them to do. The legislators as of now are rigid and defiant against the high command decision on making Jugal Kishore leader of the Assembly, as they still maintain that Prof Chamanl Lal Gupta continues to be their leader in the House, something which has given the dimension of the possibilty of the Legislative party heading for a split and the suspended MLAs falling in one camp with Prof Gupta as their leader.
However, as the things are getting complicated and murkier every passing day with MLAs raking up the issue in different lights, the latest being the caste card being attempted by the three MLAs belonging to SC community on Saturday, the observers have it to say that things will get clear only after the party high command takes the final decision in the matter. When it happens, no one can guess as the fallout of any decision is laden with political implications either way.
