BJP in a reconciliation mood with suspended MLAs | 4 of them meet newly appointed prabharis | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 17 : The Central BJP is in a reconciliation mood with seven suspended MLAs who participated in the cross voting against the Party candidate in April 14 elections to the Upper House. This became evident after two newly appointed prabharis of the Party Jagdish Mukhi (Prabhari) and Dr Jain Seh Prabhari today met four of the suspended MLAs separately at Circuit House here. The suspended MLAs whom the two prabharis met included Bladev Raj Sharma MLA, Reasi, Jagdish Raj Sapolia MLA, Basholi, Prof Garu Ram MLA, R S Pura and Durga Dass MLA Hiranagar. Earlier the two prahbaris while addressing a press conference said while replying to a question that they are not averse to meeting the suspended MLAs and they would like to meet any body not only the Party activists from village level but even a common man to seek their feed back. The suspended MLAs who said that they are still the Party MLAs and did not indulge in cross voting term the decision of the High Command of singling out them unfortunate. It may be recalled that the Party's High Command has expelled it's Legislative Party leader Chaman Lal Gupta from the membership of the Party for indulging in indiscipline while its Central Disciplinary Committee had also recommended the action against the six other suspended MLAs to the Party national president Nitin Gadkari who till date has not taken any action on the same. However it looks that BJP after the appointment of new prabharis for the state is in a mood of reconciliation with the suspended MLAs and wants to adopt a soft approach on cross voting which has tarnished its image in the state. A sizeable number of the senior leaders in Delhi is not going to believe that Prof Cham Lal Gupta who has about 60 years association with Party and Sangh parivar will do such a cheap act. These leaders according to sources have prevailed upon the High Command to rethink over its decision about the senior stalwart of the Party from the state keeping in view his past loyalty and dedication. The newly appointed prabharis despite being pursued by some senior state leaders not to hold any dialogue with the suspended MLAs turned down their suggestion and extended an open invitation to suspended MLAs that they too can meet them provided they are willing. These prabharis according to sources have even said that what authenticity is there that these seven MLAs were involved in cross voting so they are free to hear their views too. Mr Mukhi and Dr Jain have also given a signal of rejuvenating the Party in the state at grass root level. One of the suspended MLAs after meeting the Prabahris told the BJP activists outside that he had a long association from 1972 with the Party and had fought election in 1972. He while reciting an couplet from his poetry held one of the senior leaders and a sitting MLA for this all mess. |
