However, Director Rural Development Jammu has been asked to submit report within week's time. Sources said that large scale scandal involving crores of rupees has surfaced in Block Thanamandi of district Rajouri. Matter came to limelight after lot of hue and cry was raised by people about misappropriation of funds by officials of block Thanamandi. Acting on public complaint and after checking substantiated material, Minister for rural development Ali Mohammad Sagar ordered immediate suspension of concerned Block Development Officer (BDO) Thanamandi and ordered detailed inquiry of funds utilized in block during the past one year. Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Rajouri Subhash Sharma admitted that BDO has been suspended but said that matter relates to inefficiency and not embezzlement. And still, the charge of the block was lying with the said accountant and he has again refused to obey the government order. Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Rajouri Subhash Sharma admitted that the department has failed to get the said official relieved from the office. Sources said that the said accountant knows that if someone else came at his place, he would expose the wrong doings of department in the past few years. |
