Omar tweets to connect with his subjects! | Uttrakhand CM dares cloud burst to reach his people | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 24: In a dare-devil act, Uttrakand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' dared a roaring Nullah near Shastradhara in Dehradun today. The area was hit by a cloud burst. His security men watched in utter disbelief as Chief Minister stretched his legs to cross the Nullah. He also stretched his arms to maintain balance on the slippery rocks and made it to the other end safely. The way Pokhriyal negotiated the roaring water currents and the slippery stones beneath reflected his resolve to reach his people despite all odds. His counterpart in Jammu Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, went virtually missing during the last year's agitation in Kashmir. The slogans chanted in Sonawar area gave him sleepless nights. Police had to be deployed to tell agitating youth to refrain from using loudspeaker. New Delhi accused him of trust deficit and governance deficit. He was advised to reach the people. Ramesh Pokhriyal was caught by a lens man while accomplishing the daring act. The photograph was circulated. Can any newspaper afford to miss the action in the photo? Such photos are published for their news value and not for the sake of it. Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister's `personal publicity officer' Khawaja Farooq Ahmad Renzoo Shah `forces' the local newspapers to carry Omar Abdullah's photographs whenever he goes to Krishna Dhaba at Sonawar in the summer capital and Biloo-di-Hatti at Jammu's Residency Road. Omar tweeted and made news when 'he along with his family members today had a lunch of 'Dal, Roti' at Zamindar Dhaba at Raya Morh of Vijaypur town in Samba district on Jammu-Pathankot national highway'. His 'dal roti' was on the front page of almost every other newspaper of Jammu and Kashmir. Even the national dailies carried this adventurous trip of country's youngest Chief Minister. Shah, on his side, rings up few chosen ones to inform them about latest tweet of the hi-tech Chief Minister. Replying to a query by Arvind Dhar on the tweeter on delay in introduction of Kashmiri Pandit Shrine Management Bill in the Assembly, Mr Abdullah said: "I'm as ready for this bill as I was earlier. Whether you like it or not I don't head a single party government''. However, these adventures do not bear any fruit. This way Omar could reach his people but whenever he intends to have Daal Makhni at Krishna Dhaba, the security men seal the area. Nobody is allowed in. The exercise goes waste. Similarly, Omar's outing in Jammu ends when he finishes his Tandoori Chicken at Biloo's Hatti. Renzoo Shah tries to convey to the outside world that the Chief Minister was well connected with his people. The photographs circulated by him do convey such message but people in the state know the truth. Omar has found a novel and safe method of connecting with his people. He uses Twitter very often. He is always busy on his Blackberry writing tweets. The scribes also receive calls from various quarters for carrying Omar Abdullah's tweets. Leaving behind his security personnel, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah walked into a dhaba in Jammu and had dinner after a hectic day. It was a hectic day for Abdullah as elections to six seats in the Legislative Council were held on Wednesday. The NC-Congress combine won five seats. Also, in connection with the first phase of Panchayat elections, being held in the state after a gap of 10 years, polls were to be held on following Thursday. |
