Political parties in J&K barring BJP on same page over Lokpal bill | 'Guarded silence' for political interests mantra of all........? | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 24: While the anti corruption crusade led by Anna Hazare is gathering momentum every passing day, making a political flashpoint for Political parties, with intentions of UPA government in centre stage of controversy over Lokpal Bill. Under debate and arguments in political corridors at Centre, the political parties here in J&K are almost on same page over the Bill and its implications. Be that ruling Congress and National Conference or those in opposition like PDP and J&K Panthers Party, all are reticent. The ruling Congress here in J&K which 'habitually' and 'deliberately' chooses to remain silent on issues , no matter how important and burning they may be for the state, this time also has adopted silence , leaving everything on to high command . Almost all the leaders of J&K Congress unit who ought to have commented on this vital issue are in fact evading suc While Congress silence is obvious and apparent, non commutative approach forces one to speculate as to why they prefer reticence when their high command is clamoring loud in its favour albeit with some conditions etc. The NC is once again toeing the UPA led by Congress line in a typical 'sycophantic style' with both father son duo- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as well as Union minister Dr Farooq Abdullah parroting ' Parliament is supreme........' statement over the nuances of the Lokpal Bill. Omar, however, a couple of times expressed concern over 'all pervasive' corruption environment and scenario in the state, albeit coming with no concrete solutions or steps except the rhetoric on SAC, SVC.......list of corrupt officers in making etc etc ...The NC high command's stand over the Lokpal Bill in line with UPA is too clear to be understood- following the coalition dharma in full spirit besides expressing loyalities towards the coalition partner in true sense. As for PDP, even though the patron of the party and former Chief Minister the other day was heard quite concerned over rampant corruption in J&K state, he and his party too has chosen not to speak or express views on the Lokpal Bill , which is in centrestage of controversy actually at present. One wonders if he is playing safe because of the 'old relations' with Congress, which in a politically fragile atmosphere of J&K can get revived any time, or simply because the party thinks the bill is no deterrence to the menace. Even then the political stalwarts like him need to express their views on which they have chosen silence. While BJP is the only party day in and day out vociferous over the issue, apparently for political reasons and the tough stand its high command has adopted at centre over the issue of corruption, the views on Lokpal Bill by any leader is understandably clear and direct. One wonders at the complete reticence of J&K Panthers Party, which is otherwise seen in the role of 'real panthers' on issues like corruption. Can its silence be construed as something not wishing to annoy ruling Congress for 'some reasons' or some other interests on similar lines . There is no voice , no concern and no fire from its fiery leaders on this virtually burning issue this time. |
