| Sunny Baba's 2 accomplices held with pistol | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sep 4: Two close associates of gangster Sunny Baba were arrested by police at R S Pura here today along with a country made pistol and a sharp-edged weapon.They had come to R S Pura to allegedly carry out an attack on their rivals, according to police sources.
At the time of their arrest, a country made pistol and a sharp-edged weapon were recovered from them, the sources added.
Sources said Manoj Kumar alias Mooja, son of Ashok Kumar of ward No 4, R S Pura, and Tirath Singh, son of Ram Rakha of Nelowal, RS Pura, were on their way to execute the plan of eliminating their rivals when, acting on a specific information, R S Pura police laid a trap and caught hold of them.
Mooja, an alleged contract killer and close confidant of Sunny Baba, was involved in about half a dozen attempt to murder and extortion cases, besides cases registered against him under arms act at Bari Brahmana, Gangyal and R S Pura police stations.
He went underground after Rakesh Giri's alleged encounter by police in marble market area here last year.While Baba was arrested by police allegedly with two country made pistols when he was
going in a car at Jhajjar Kotli few days after the Giri "encounter", Mooja continued to evade arrest. Baba was at present in the Kot-Bhalwal jail.Sources said after fleeing from the "encounter" site, Mooja hid himself in Stay Well hotel at Pathankot.
He was alleged to be a frequent visitor to the house of Baba's in-laws at Pathankot. Sources said he allegedly got logistic support from Baba's brother-in-law Shera. A message was also said to have been flashed to Pathankot police to arrest the relatives of Sunny Baba who provided logistic and financial support to Mooja, the sources added. A case under sections 3/25 and 4/25 of Arms Act was registered against the accused. |
