Jammu, June 9: At least five passengers were killed and twenty five others sustained injuries when a bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down on Jammu-Katra road, police sources here said.
"A passenger bus bearing regd no JK12- 2193 on way from Tikri to Katra, late this evening rolled down near Painthal, police sources said.
Sources said that five passengers died on the spot and the twenty five injured were evacuated to the hospital for medicare.
"The deceased have been identified as Vidika Rajan, d/o Deep Rajan of Udhampur, Varsha Rajan w/o Deepi Rajan, Joginder Kumar S/o Mohan Lal of Doda, Devi Dass s/o Sindu Ram of Mandi Himachal , Vijay Kumar s/o Tara chand of Katra, sources said.
They added that the police and locals started rescue operation soon after they came to know about the road mishap and evacuated the injured to nearby hospital
