Early Times Report Jammu, June 2: Within days after family members of notorious female drug peddler Jano Bibi made an abortive attempt to take her away from police custody without any fear, a group of cops was severely beaten by another gang of drug mafia in the Sarore Add area of Samba district. On Thursday evening, a group of drug traffickers attacked a team of police that had gone to conduct patrolling in a narcotic hotspot in Vijaypur. Without any fear, drug traffickers resorted to attacking cops with shard-edged weapons and roads. Six cops were injured, including one of them seriously, in the attack. Two successive attacks on cops by the dreaded drug traffickers have exposed the helplessness of the policemen in dealing with this menace. Shockingly, one of the cops was seriously injured in the attack by drug traffickers who have links at higher levels. Early Times Report Jammu, June 2: A terrorist has been killed in a brief gunfight with security forces in forest area of Dassal Gujran area of Rajouri district last night, officials said on Friday. ‘Body of one terrorist has been retrieved so far,” defence ministry spokesperson based in Jammu said. Don’t answer calls from unknown numbers: Telecom Minister to people

Agencies New Delhi, June 2: Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw urged people on Friday to not pick mobilephone calls from “unknown numbers” and asserted that measures taken by the ministry have resulted in a significant reduction in spam calls and cases of cyber frauds. “People should never pick calls made from unknown numbers. I request every citizen that they should respond to calls from only (telephone/mobile) those numbers they recognise,” he told reporters. Early Times Report Srinagar, June 2: As intermittent rains continued unabated and the weatherman forecast more wet weather till weekend, night temperature continued to hover below normal in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Friday. Amarnath Yatra track to be ready by June 15

Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 2: The Border Road Organisation (BRO) will complete the maintenance works on the Amarnath Yatra track by June 15, officials said on Friday. The annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath, located at a height of 3,880 metres in the south Kashmir Himalayas, will begin on July 1 and continue till August 31. The scope of BRO’s work includes snow clearance, widening of the track, restoration of all footbridges, fixing of handrails and construction of break walls, among others, they said.
