| Kashmir to host day-and-night celebrations on August 5 | | | |

Jammu, July 31: With Kashmir getting back to the path of peace and prosperity, the valley will host numerous day and night events on August 5 to celebrate the abrogation of the so-called special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Top leaders of the BJP including two ministers from the Union Cabinet are all set to visit Kashmir for the special festivities, the Early Times learnt from reliable sources in the national capital.
Sources said the J&K administration has received instructions from New Delhi that given the boom in economic activities in Kashmir, which had been otherwise marred by terror in the last around three decades, the region should wear a festive look for the “full twenty hours of the big day.”
The sources said while the historic Lal Chowk will host a mega musical show, a night football match is also likely to be held at the Bakshi Stadium. Sources said several top visiting dignitaries are likely to grace the occasion.

Jammu, July 31: Nearly a month has been passed after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has dissolved its Jammu and Kashmir unit but the party leadership is hesitating to announce new officer bearers.
When existing body of AAP was dissolved on July 4, it was announced that new office bearers would be announce within a week’s time but nothing has done so far.

Srinagar, July 31: A Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was killed in a gun battle that erupted between the militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday, officials said.

New Delhi, July 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' is turning into a mass movement and urged people to put 'tiranga' as profile picture of their accounts on social media platforms between August 2 and 15.
In his Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast, Modi said under the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' from August 13 to 15, a special movement – 'Har Ghar Tiranga' is being organised.

Srinagar, July 31: Fresh batches of more than 1,000 pilgrims proceeded through the twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal to Amarnath on Sunday to pay obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine, officials said.
They said 42 pilgrims had paid obeisance at the cave shrine till 11 am taking the total number who pilgrims who have paid obeisance at the cave shrine to 2,91,644 so far since the pilgrimage commenced on June 30.

Jammu, July 31: Another batch of more than 500 pilgrims left on Sunday for the revered Buddha Amarnath shrine in Poonch district from a base camp in Jammu amid tight security arrangements, officials said.
The Buddha Amarnath Yatra resumed on Friday after remaining suspended for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The batch of 535 pilgrims -- 365 men, 163 women and seven children -- left in 13 vehicles from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for the shrine amid tight security, they said.
