Imran Khan's 'bouncer' shocks Pak proxies in Kashmir
Pak PM ignores separatists, proposes bilateral talks with GoI
9/20/2018 10:55:19 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, Sept 20: Skeletons have finally begun to tumble out of the cupboards, revealing the inner most secrets of how unimportant is the so-called Hurriyat Conference for Pakistan when it comes to discussing important matters with New Delhi.
In a letter dated September 14, Pakistan's new Prime Minister Imran Khan proposed a meeting between foreign ministers Sushma Swaraj and Shah Mahmood Qureshi before the informal meeting of the SAARC foreign ministers at the sidelines of the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York.
In the letter, Imran mentioned how peace and engagement between the two countries is important for prosperity of both India and Pakistan and talks are needed at an earliest.
Even though he mentioned the issue of Jammu and Kashmir as well, what is surprising is that the new Pak PM has proposed the bilateral engagement of the two countries while completely rejecting the possibility of any third party between the two.
This is perhaps the first time that Pakistan has begun to sideline Hurriyat and separatists of Kashmir who keep singing its praises and follow its diktat. This is for the first time that on Kashmir Pakistan as proposed talks with India bilaterally to resolve it for the benefit of both the countries while accepting that it is going to talk on terrorism as well with India.
The detailed letter that Imran Khan has written to Prime Minister Modi is being seen as an attempt of Pakistan to omit the separatists of Kashmir and ignore them in an outright manner.
Earlier, the separatists used to beat the trumpet that Pakistan and its leadership is with them and that it will not desert them whenever talks over Kashmir take place. However, in the latest letter, it has come to fore that there would be no place for separatists and that they would no longer be allowed to poke their nose into the insidious and important issues confronting the two countries of the South Asia.
However, more shamelessly, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, one of the separatist leaders in Kashmir, has supported the move despite knowing that his bosses in Pakistan have ignored him and his conglomerate and have made Kashmir a bilateral issue between the two countries.
Mirwaiz tweeted: "Welcome Pakistan Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI positive response of resolving issues including Kashmir through constructive & meaningful dialogue.People of J&K always support every initiative of lasting peace, whose assured way is through resolution of #KashmirDispute as per universal principles of justice and humanity.Hope Indian Prime Minister @narendramodi reciprocates the spirit. (SIC)"
Meanwhile, other separatists including Syed Ali Geelani and Yasin Malik seem to have preferred to remain silent and not to comment over this issue. Truth looks to have dawned upon them that their importance in Pakistan is now a thing of the past and they no longer are going to claim that their role for Kashmir resolution is vital and important.
It is to be seen what more is to come from Pakistan. For now, it has given shock to its proxies in Kashmir.
