RGCN organizes workshop on Nursing edcuation

Jammu, Mar 28: Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing, March 28, 2024: Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing (RGCN) hosted the inaugural 1st UT Level CNE Cum Workshop, focusing on “Emerging Innovative Teaching and Learning Strategies in Nursing Education.” The workshop aimed to foster discussions on innovative instructional methods grounded in evidence-based practices, vital for enhancing the quality of nursing education.
The event garnered significant participation from esteemed representatives of various Government and Private Nursing Institutions across Jammu & Kashmir, including BEE ENN, ASCOMS, Stephens, SMVDCON, and many others. Distinguished dignitaries inaugurated the workshop, marking the commencement with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony and a soulful prayer song.
Anjana Bavouria, Director of RGCN, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, setting the stage for insightful discussions. Prof. Rafiqa Bashir, Principal of RGCN, highlighted the academic achievements of RGCN students, underscoring the institution’s commitment to excellence. Mr. M.S Katoch, Chairman of RGCN, elucidated on the aims and objectives of the workshop, emphasizing its significance in advancing nursing education.
The technical sessions featured renowned resource persons who shared their expertise and perspectives. Ms. Nighat Parveen from IBN SINA CON, Kashmir, delved into “Current Issues and Emerging Trends in Nursing Education in India.” Prof. Rafiqa Bashir elaborated on “Concepts of Teaching and Learning,” while Prof. Johny Kutty Joseph from SMVDCON, Kakryal, explored “Innovative Teaching Strategies: Classroom Teaching vs. Clinical Teaching.” Dr. Rajni Thapa from SMVDCON Kakryal discussed the “Effective Use of Simulation in Teaching,” shedding light on practical applications in nursing education. The valedictory function, graced by Dr. Sandeep Singh, Registrar of J&K Nursing Council, honored the resource persons and distributed certificates to all delegates.
Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of quality education in producing competent nursing professionals and encouraged continuous efforts in organizing such events for knowledge dissemination. He reiterated the commitment of J&K Nursing Council towards nurturing the student community. The workshop concluded with a post-test session and feedback collection, ensuring continuous improvement and enhancement of future initiatives. Sonia Nanda, Associate Professor at RGCN, extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants, culminating the event on a note of appreciation and collaboration towards advancing nursing education in the region.
