Police registers 4 FIRs arrests 4 bovine smugglers rescues 69 bovines

RAMBAN, Apr 26: Jammu and Kashmir Police Continuing its drive against the bovine smugglers and their propagators under Operation KAMDHENU, District Police Ramban under the supervision of SSP Ramban Sh.Anuj Kumar-IPS has foiled bovine smuggling attempts, registered 04 FIRs arrested 04 bovine smugglers, rescued 69 bovines and seized 04 vehicles.
Police team of Police station Chanderkote headed by SHO Chanderkote while performing vehicle checking duty intercepted two vehicles bearing registration No.JK 02CL 7472 and JK 14 J 1423 held two persons Mohd.Akhter son of Mohd Shafi resident of Chappan, Tehsil Dansal, District Jammu and Muneer Ahmed son of Yaqoob resident of Wali Nullaha Udhampur.During checking 19 bovines were found laden inside both the vehicles which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
In another instance Police Party of PS Ramban headed by SHO Ramban foiled a bovine smuggling bid, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No JK 13C 8175 and held one person namely Shabir Ahmed son of Mohd Qasim resident of Tatrsoo, Tehsil & District Ramban. During checking, 32 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle, which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
In another instance Police Party of Police Post Jawahar Tunnel headed by IC PP foiled bovine smuggling bid, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No JK 03G 5853,held one person namely Altaf Hussian son of Mohd Rafiq resident of Mazmoon, Tehsil Dooru District Anantnag During checking 18 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
As a result, a total of 69 bovine animals were rescued under the operation "KAMDHENU." Subsequently, FIR No. 53/2024 and 54/2024 were registered at Police Station Chanderkote, FIR No. 91/2024 at PS Ramban and FIR No.58/2024 was registered at PS Banihal under Sections 188 IPC and under section 11 of the Prevention of cruelty to Animals Act. The investigation has been initiated into these cases. 04 persons arrested and 04 vehicles involved in the commission of offence have been seized.
The successful rescue operation was conducted by Police parties led by SHO Police Station Chanderkot, SHO PS Ramban and IC PP Jawahar Tunnel under the supervision of Dysp Hqrs Ramban, SDPO Banihal, Addl.SP Ramban, with the overall supervision by SSP Ramban.
