Police-public meeting held at border village,Badyal Brahama in RS Pura

Jammu, May 30: Jammu police organized a police-public meeting at Badyal Brahmana in RS Pura area to improve the police-public relations, efficiency, transparency and accountability in policing at the grass root and to develop confidence and synergy with citizens.Fine dining reservations
The meeting was chaired by SP Headquarters Jammu Irshad Hussain Rather-JKPS and was attended by SDPO RS Pura Gurmeet Singh-JKPS SHO RS Pura R S Parihar & I/C BPP Badyal Brahmana ASI Ashwami Kumar and other police officers. About 150-200 persons including prominent/senior citizens participated in the meeting.
The primary focus of the event was to address public concerns and raise awareness on key issues, including:
* New Criminal Laws (NCL).
* Drug Abuse Prevention especially role of parents
* Traffic violations and road accidents
* Cyber Crime
* Tenant verifications
* Phone/internet addiction
* Current Security Scenario.
* During the public interaction session, various grievances were raised by the attendees. The issues, primarily revolving around the challenges faced post-border shelling and the community’s preparedness for similar situations in the future, were attentively heard.
Participants demanded SPO/Paid VDG recruitment for the local youth.Participants raised the issue of garbage damping along Niki Tawi and consequent menace of stray dogs in the area.
The SP Headquarters briefed the participants regarding importance of good police-public relations in maintaining peace, tranquility and public order for welfare of society at large. A patient hearing was given to the issues of the participants during the course of meeting.
SP headquarters Jammu urged the participants to cooperate with Police and Administration in maintaining law & order in their areas as well as in identifying anti-social elements like drugs peddler, bootleggers, thieves, etc.
The participants were further briefed that keeping in view of sensitivity of the area and remain extra vigilant in their area. They were advised that if they notice anything suspicious or any suspicious person/vehicles roaming in their respective areas, bring immediately it to the notice of the nearest Police unit. They were also advised to share the information of drug peddlers if noticed in their area to the concerned police immediately
The officers assured the public of swift redressal of police-related concerns. Moreover, grievances not directly pertaining to police matters were assured to be forwarded to the concerned departments for necessary action.
Several public grievances were heard and resolved on the spot, reflecting the police department’s commitment to responsive and citizen-centric policing.
The event underscored the importance of community engagement and the role of police-public meetings in strengthening trust and cooperation between the police and the public.
Participants were urged to co-operate with Police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti national and anti-social elements to maintain peace and order in the society.
Community members assured their cooperation for enhancing police-public relationship.
By organising such meetings Jammu Police reinforces its commitment to improve transparency and accountability in policing at grassroot level in the district and to develop confidence and synergy between police and citizens for effective redressal of grievances.
