JAMMU, May 31: Indian Red Cross Society, J&K under the leadership of Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Sh. Manoj Sinha (Hon'ble President, IRCS, J&K-UT) and supervision of Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K is undertaking a significant humanitarian mission to help the society in different areas of J&K. Today, on 31st May, 2025 IRCS, J&K has conducted series of activities:
First Aid Training at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu:-
Eight days First-Aid training was organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K UT which concluded on 31st May, 2025 at Red Cross Bhawan Kachi Chawni Jammu for the commercial Vehicle Drivers and others.
The lecture was delivered/ demonstrated by Dr.Manpreet Kaur, Medical officer along with Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist and Smt. Mohna Devi, FMPHW. The participants were trained about the ABC of First-Aid, Traumas, Bleeding and types of bandages, practical demonstration on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Transportation of injured person etc. The trainees were also apprised of the various techniques of Disaster Management during Earthquakes, Fires, Floods, famine etc.
Apart from this, all the queries made by the students regarding the healthy lifestyle and other health issues were cleared by the Doctors and they also provided some tips regarding the healthy lifestyle. A special lecture on drug de-addiction was also given to the participants. The training went quite fruitful and concluded with good positivity.
The exam was conducted by Dr. Shelly Mahajan, Anaesthetics along with Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer. During the last day of session all the participants were issued with Provisional certificates.
First-Aid Awareness and Youth Red Cross Program for the students of Institute of Physical Health and Hygiene, Jammu:- Indian Red Cross Society, J&K successfully organized a First-Aid Awareness and Youth Red Cross programme for the students of IPHH, Jammu in which a large number of students and professors were trained by Dr. Manpreet kaur, Medical Officer and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, IRCS J&K.
During the session, participants were guided through practical demonstrations and theoretical knowledge. The training focused on basic first-Aid techniques for handling common injuries, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, Transportation and stressed the importance of staying calm and responding quickly during critical situations.
The students also learned about how they can get involved with the Red Cross, whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading awareness about the organization's critical work. In the end, the students opted to become members of this organization by registering themselves as Annual Associates.
Menstrual Hygiene awareness program at Govt. Degree College, Akhnoor:- The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), J&K today distributed sanitary napkins at Govt. Degree College, Jammu ensuring that students have access to essential menstrual hygiene products. This initiative is part of the IRCS's ongoing efforts to enhance health and hygiene standards in remote and underserved regions.
Besides the distribution of Women hygiene material, the team Red Cross also organized educational sessions to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene management. These sessions covered topics such as the importance of using sanitary napkins, proper disposal methods, and breaking the stigma associated with menstruation.
Principal stated that "The distribution of sanitary napkins by the IRCS, J&K has been immensely beneficial for our students. The educational sessions have helped in dispelling myths and fears surrounding menstruation, making our girls more confident and informed."
