Indian Army Organises Awareness Lecture on Drug Abuse

Rajouri, June 3: Keeping in view of Indian Army’s core objective of maintaining cordial relations with local citizens through Awam, Indian Army organised an ‘Awareness Lecture on Drug Abuse’ for spreading awareness amongst young generation as well as local populace regarding substance/ drug abuse and bad impacts of smoking on health.
This lecture helped to promote and spread the knowledge on best practices to boost physical & mental wellbeing amongst local people of all age groups of Hasplot, Thanamandi, Marha and nearby areas.
A total strength of 98 youth and locals (including 18 Gents & 05 children at Hasplot, One Teacher & 30 Students at Thanamandi and 20 Gents, Seven Females & 17 Students at Marha) attended the lecture.
During this event, an Indian Army Personnel gave lecture on bad effects of drug abuse/ smoking as well as briefed the children and youth about drug abuse and smoking which has become a common thing these days and many youths are destroying their lives by getting addicted to drugs and smoking.
It leads to addiction and causes behavioural changes.
Drug abuse particularly impacts the brain including depression, conducts problems, personality disorders and suicidal thoughts and can also lead to other health issues such as kidney failure and heart problems.
He also briefed the children about prevention from drug abuse, which is a process that attempts to prevent the onset of drug use or limit the development of problems associated with using drugs.
The children were advised to pursue their aim in respective fields & contribute towards environment, society and country as a responsible citizen. The officer motivated and assured them of all possible guidance and assistance from Indian Army for their future endeavours. The event also served as a platform to strengthen the bond between Army and the people of this region. It showcased Indian Army’s commitment towards service to the nation.
