JAMMU, June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, 1JK Squadron NCC Air Wing Udhampur organized a Tree Plantation Drive at Sant Ishwar Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School, Nainsu, Udhampur. The event aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and promote sustainable practices among students and the local community. The program began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a soulful rendition of Saraswati Vandana, setting a serene and respectful tone for the day. Principal Smt. Renu Sharma welcomed and introduced the guests, honouring them with a chunni and a symbolic tree.
The event was officially inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Wing Commander Nittin Yadav. Among the distinguished guests were Shiv Kumar Sharma, President of BVM Higher Secondary School Udhampur Nainsu ; Mam Chand Mittal, District President; School Management Committee (SMC) Nek Ram Sarma (Member Bhartiya Shiksha Samiti Jammu) Mulkh Raj Sharma (SMC)Coln Balwant Singh , Havaldar Khajura Singh , Captain Raj Singh, members of the Indian Air Force team; students; and staff were also present. All attendees enthusiastically participated in planting saplings within the school campus, demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental protection.
A major highlight of the day was the official launch of the 1JK Squadron NCC Wing at the school, formally announced by Wing Commander Nittin Yadav. This significant development will help instill values of discipline, leadership, and patriotism among the students.
In his address, Wing Commander Yadav emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and lauded the school's active role in nurturing responsible future citizens. He also encouraged students to actively participate in the newly formed NCC unit to develop strong character and a spirit of service to the nation.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by School President Shiv Kumar Sharma, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries and participants. He led the attendees in taking a pledge to nurture the planted trees and remain committed to environmental conservation. He also extended heartfelt wishes to the Indian Air Force for its unwavering dedication and service to the nation.
