| Timely and adequate fertilizer supply to farmers is top priority: CM Yogi | | | Early Times Report
Lucknow, July 14: In a high-level meeting on Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the preparedness for ensuring uninterrupted fertilizer supply to farmers during the Kharif season. He directed officials to prevent any shortage across the state and called for strict, continuous monitoring of the supply chain. The Chief Minister also warned that any attempt at black marketing or hoarding would be met with stern punitive action.
The Chief Minister stated that the timely and affordable availability of fertilisers is crucial for strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s agricultural economy. He directed that fertilizer distribution be regularly reviewed at the district level and closely monitored by District Magistrates. In case of any reported shortage, alternative supply arrangements be made immediately to avoid disruption.
Reiterating his government’s zero-tolerance policy against black marketing and smuggling of fertilisers, especially to neighbouring countries, the Chief Minister said that any individual or organisation attempting to deprive farmers of their rightful access to fertilisers would face stern action. He instructed officials to inspect the stocks of both wholesale and retail sellers regularly. In case of discrepancies, strict measures, ranging from license cancellation to filing of FIRs, must be taken without delay.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of robust communication and outreach to ensure that farmers are fully informed about the availability and pricing of fertilizers. He directed that digital platforms, the Agriculture Department’s website, and local media should be effectively utilized to share real-time information about fertilizer stock and pricing.
“Farmers are our top priority,” the Chief Minister said, reaffirming the state government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding their interests. He added that the availability, quality, and pricing of fertilizers will be strictly monitored to ensure that farmers face no inconvenience during the agricultural season. |
