RAMBAN, July 21: Based on a specific and credible input regarding the transportation of narcotics (Poppystraw) a case FIR No. 38/2025 U/S 8/15 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Chanderkote. Accordingly, a special Naka was established on NHW-44 near Jamia Masjid, Chanderkote.
During the naka, the police party from PS Chanderkote intercepted a scooty bearing registration number PB07CB-3332, which was coming from the Ramban side.
During questioning the Ridder of scooty disclosed his identity as Harpreet Singh, son of Sudarshan Singh, resident of Mananhana, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab. During the process of checking , 01 kg and 818 grams of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from his possession.
The co-rider disclosed his identity as Sukhvindar Kumar, son of Jeet Singh, resident of Dain, District Kapurthala, Punjab, was also subjected to search, during which 01 kg and 500 grams of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Upon thorough checking of the scooty, a concealed cavity was discovered under the seat, from which an additional 04 kg and 422 grams of poppy straw-like substance was recovered.
In total, 07 kg and 740 grams of suspected poppy straw was seized.
