MLA Arvind Gupta raises Jammu West Constituency issues in Legislative Assembly
10/28/2025 9:36:31 PM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Oct 28: MLA Arvind Gupta on Monday raised several pressing issues concerning the Jammu West constituency in the ongoing session of the Legislative Assembly in Srinagar, drawing the government's attention towards the incomplete projects and lack of basic amenities in the region.
Highlighting the plight of patients in the Bone and Joint Hospital, Jammu, Gupta said the hospital caters to the entire Jammu Province, yet remains incomplete despite the sanction of Rs 72 crore.
"Out of the sanctioned Rs 72 crore, only Rs 40 crore worth of work has been completed, and since then no further funds have been released," he stated.
Gupta added that due to lack of proper medical facilities and para-medical staff, patients are being given waiting periods of up to a month for treatment.
"With insufficient staff, lack of infrastructure, and gross disparity in manpower allocation, the hospital is struggling to serve the needs of patients from across the Jammu division," said MLA Arvind Gupta, highlighting that despite catering to the entire Jammu Province, the Bone and Joint Hospital continues to face severe operational challenges due to incomplete construction, shortage of medical and para-medical personnel, and inadequate government attention towards its full-scale functioning.
He also pointed out a disparity between the Jammu and Srinagar hospitals sanctioned at the same time.
"Both the Bone and Joint Hospitals in Jammu and Srinagar were sanctioned together. The Srinagar hospital has been made fully functional, while Jammu's remains incomplete. The government sanctioned Rs 140 crore for 120 beds in Srinagar and Rs 42 crore for 180 beds in Jammu, which shows clear discrimination against Jammu," Gupta remarked, urging Health Minister Sakina Itoo to look into the matter seriously and address the grievances of the people.
Raising another long-pending issue, Gupta said that the Revenue Complex Road project has been awaiting tender approval for the last seven years. "Despite repeated assurances, the tender for the Revenue Complex Road has not been passed. I urge the R&B Minister to look into the delay and ensure its early completion," he said.
