Police’s Crackdown on Drugs: 168 arrested, Narcotics worth Rs 8.45 Cr seized, drug assets worth Rs 8.30 Cr attached, 56 bank accounts frozen

Udhampur, Oct 31: Continuing its sustained and resolute campaign against the menace of narcotics, Udhampur Police has intensified operations across the district under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan. From January to October 2025, a total of 116 cases were registered under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of 168 persons - including 150 under NDPS and 18 under PIT NDPS/PSA.
As part of its strict enforcement measures, 53 vehicles used in narcotic smuggling were seized, while 10 pharmacy shops were sealed for violations related to H1 drugs.
The total value of contraband seized on the black market during this period stands at an estimated Rs 8.45 crore, comprising Heroin (1.18 kg), Charas (1.13 kg), Poppy Straw (160.9 kg), and Ganja (1.06 kg). Additionally, illicit opium cultivation spread over 2 kanal and 10 marla of land was destroyed in Panchari area.
In a major financial crackdown, 56 bank accounts of drug peddlers were frozen, involving a total of Rs 17,59,893. Furthermore, properties worth ₹8.30 crore - including 08 residential houses, 02 shops, 01 flat, 28 vehicles, 02 saving accounts, and 12 marlas of land — were attached under NDPS provisions.
On the prosecution front, 41 cases culminated in 52 convictions, reflecting the effectiveness of professional investigation and legal follow-up by Udhampur Police.
