SCERT Divisional Office Jammu concludes 5 day workshop

Jammu, Nov 1: In line with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to promote experiential and skill-based learning, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Divisional Office Jammu, under the mentorship of Sh. Shantmanu (IAS), Financial Commissioner, Additional Chief Secretary and Director JKSCERT, and the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT Jammu Division, successfully organised a five-day workshop on “Sensitisation and Contextualisation of Guidelines for Implementation of Bagless Days in Local Languages” from 28th October to 1st November 2025, bringing together a consortium of thirty teachers, master teachers, headmasters and lecturers from across the Jammu Division .
The programme was organised by the Department of Art Education and Vocational Education, Academic Unit-I. The workshop aimed to familiarise participants with the PSSCIVE, Bhopal guidelines on Bagless Days and contextualise them into local languages; Hindi, Urdu, Dogri, and Gojri, for effective implementation in schools .
The inaugural session began with a formal lamp lighting ceremony performed by Sh. Bharat Bhushan, Head EPMM, joined by all Unit Heads of SCERT Jammu. Sh. Sanjeev Suri, Head, AU-I, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of Bagless Days in nurturing creativity, skill orientation, and joyful learning among students.
Ms. Pooja Sharma, Coordinator, elaborated on the concept of Bagless Days as envisaged in NEP 2020, emphasising the need to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-life application through experiential and vocational learning.
The Worthy Joint Director, SCERT Jammu Division, later graced the programme and addressed the participants, commending the initiative and encouraging educators to adopt innovative and inclusive approaches for effective implementation of Bagless Days.
Interactive sessions were conducted by Ms. Pooja Sharma, Mr. Yogesh Kumar, and Ms. Sabah Rasheed, Academic Officers, covering topics such as Bagless Days as per NEP 2020, Roles and Responsibilities of Heads of Institutions, Development of Annual Work Plans, and Integration of Local Vocations like pottery, gardening, carpentry, and electrical work to promote dignity of labour and community connect.
During the workshop, participants engaged in group discussions, case studies, and project-based activities, designing school action plans, developing local activity models, and contextualising Bagless days guidelines through field-based tasks.

The event was well organised under the supervision of Wing Head, Dr. Vandana Gupta, and a cohesive team comprising Ms. Sabah Rasheed (Associate Coordinator), Mr. Yogesh Kumar, Dr. Sunita Sharma, Dr. Meenakshi Chandan, Dr. Seema Zakir, Ms. Farhat John, Ms. Rukhsana Gulbadan, Mr. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Ms. Arsh Kour, Ms. Ruksana Koser, Ms. Meena Thakur, and Ms. Sushma Kumari.
The five-day workshop concluded with participants’ presentations and a valedictory session. Certificates of participation were awarded to the attendees.A formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Vandana Gupta, Assistant Professor.
