Reasi, Nov 2: Continuing its efforts to curb illegal smuggling activities and maintain law & order, District Police Reasi today apprehended one person carrying illicit liquor during routine naka checking at Balini Naka. A police team deployed at Balini Naka intercepted an individual coming from Reasi towards Katra while carrying a blue polythene bag. During questioning, he disclosed his identity as Pawan Kumar S/O Chander Posh, R/O Searli, A/P Katra, District Reasi, aged 24 years. Upon thorough checking, 18 quarter bottles (250 ml each) of JK Special Whisky were recovered from his possession. As the accused failed to produce any valid permit for transporting the liquor, he was found violating the law. In this regard, Case FIR No. 297/2025 U/S 223(a) BNS has been registered at Police Station Katra and the accused has been arrested. The seized illicit liquor has been taken into custody as case property. The whole operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp Khyatiman Khajuria, under the close supervision of SDPO katra Dr Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Vipan Chandran. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh reiterates that District Police Reasi remains committed to its continuous drive against illegal liquor smuggling and other unlawful activities to ensure a safe and crime-free environment in the region. |
