Defence Minister Rajnath Singh while addressing Sardar Sabha at Vadodara in Gujarat stated that “Operation Sindoor” is a proof of India’s strength to give a befitting reply to those who do not understand the language of peace and goodwill,” he likened India’s action against terrorism to the “iron will” and leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Operation Sindoor was launched to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 tourists dead. Indian armed forces in first week of May this year carried out massive strikes deep inside Pakistan and PoK and destroyed headquarters of nine terrorist outfits. Pakistan took attack on terrorist headquarters as an attack on itself and responded with cross LoC shelling and drone attacks, but all their attempts were foiled and the skirmishes which continued between the two nations led to the neighbouring country suffering immense damages. After 4-days of confrontation, Pakistan’s DGMO contacted his Indian counterpart and requested for a ceasefire, which led to the suspension of military action. Through ‘Operation Sindoor’ India sent a clear message that it won’t tolerate any attack on its civilians and the people who orchestrate such heinous acts will face consequences. Besides destroying terror headquarters, Indian armed forces made Pakistan’s air defence system and air bases defunct. This was not escalation for the sake of showmanship; it was strategic action with limited, precise objectives aimed at restoring deterrence. While comparing ‘Operation Sindoor’ with iron will of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Singh said, “Sardar Patel always tried to resolve problems through dialogue, but never hesitated to choose a bold path as need so arose as in the case of the union of Hyderabad with India.” Patel’s leadership during the integration of Hyderabad—where he chose the bold path when national security demanded it—remains an enduring example of courage aligned with purpose. Singh’s reflection underscores that India continues to operate in that same spirit: peaceful at heart, resolute when challenged. Armed forces need to be commended for their courage, dedication and the successful execution of ‘Operation Sindoor., The world is today acknowledging the bravery and capabilities of Indian soldiers. The operation sent a clear message that “we’re a peace-loving nation which never provokes any country, but if provoked, does not spare those who try to cast an evil eye. |
