early times report

Jammu, Dec 10: Dogra Law College (Autonomous), in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Samba, organized Human Rights Awareness Programme aimed at sensitizing students to fundamental rights, duties, and the importance of practical legal exposure.
The programme commenced with a Presidential Address by Sh. R. S. Katal, Member, Governing Body, Dogra Law College, who emphasized the significance of Human Rights education in shaping socially responsible and ethically grounded legal professionals. He encouraged students to uphold constitutional values and play an active role in promoting justice and equality in the society. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and dignitaries, creating an inspiring and academically enriching atmosphere.
A key highlight of the programme was the address by Ms. Asma Choudhary, Secretary, DLSA Samba, who spoke on the importance of legal awareness and accessible justice for all. She elaborated on various DLSA initiatives and inspired students to contribute meaningfully to the community legal services. Notably, Ms. Choudhary announced internship opportunities for the students of Dogra Law College, providing them with hands-on exposure to legal aid activities, client counselling, and grassroots justice delivery—a commitment that was warmly welcomed by students and faculty. The programme also featured a Special Address by Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, who appreciated the collaborative initiative and motivated students to utilize such platforms to enhance their legal aptitude and sense of social responsibility.
As a mark of gratitude, Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak presented mementos to Ms. Asma Choudhary, followed by the presentation of a sapling by Dr. Aarti Gandotra, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and continued partnership. The NSS Unit added vibrancy to the event with a compelling skit on ‘Mahatvpuran Manav Adhikaar’, creatively highlighting essential human rights and the need for collective responsibility in upholding them. The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of thanks by Ms. Khushali Bashisht, the National Anthem, and a group photograph, marking the successful culmination of a programme dedicated to promoting human rights awareness and strengthening academic–institutional collaboration.
