Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Dec 18: A two-day District-Level Philately Exhibition Udhampex-2025, organized by the Department of Posts, commenced today at Riwayat Hall, showcasing India's rich culture and civilization through postage stamps. Deputy Commissioner, Saloni Rai graced the occasion as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of Assistant Director Philately, J&K Circle, G M Shah, Superintendent of Post Offices Udhampur Postal Division, Rajeev Sharma and other officers of the Postal Department. The exhibition featured an impressive display of over 2,000 postal stamps from different periods, highlighting diverse themes and historical milestones. In her inaugural address, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the main objective of the exhibition is to generate awareness among the general public about the importance of the Post Office and the educational value of postage stamps. She informed that the exhibition was open to all and highlighted that postage stamps, covering various themes, represent a wealth of knowledge. During the two days exhibition, the Postal Department is going to organise varied activities for children, including letter-writing competitions, stamp design contests, quiz competitions and a philately workshop to encourage young minds to develop an interest in philately. |
