| Punjab Governor Union Ministers in Delhi; Discusses Key Issues | | | Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Dec 18: National Capital today witnessed intensifying of political activities on Punjab as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, today met Union Ministers, - Nitin Gadkari, Manohar Lal Khattar and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi to draw their attention for speeding up the on-going developmental works of concerned ministries in Punjab and Chandigarh. During these meetings held separately in the Parliament House, wide-ranging discussions were held on key issues concerning Punjab and Chandigarh, including infrastructure development, urban planning, road connectivity, public welfare initiatives and coordinated efforts between the Centre, the State and Chandigarh Administration. These meetings are in continuation of the similar meeting held with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday to take up strategic issues of Punjab and Sikh community. They had also discussed various developmental projects of the Centre. These high-powered meetings indicate the high priority and increased thrust of the Union government for completion of developmental works in Punjab on priority basis. Ahead of these meetings, the Punjab Governor was warmly welcomed at Parliament by Union Minister for State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu and Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu who also accompanied Kataria during these meetings with the Union Ministers. In these meetings, Kataria emphasized the need for sustainable development, improved civic amenities and faster implementation of ongoing and proposed projects to benefit the people of the region. In meeting with the Union road transport and highways minister Gadkari, the discussions were held regarding further expansion of road networks to remains a Punjab a central hub for business and tourism. In meeting with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Khattar, the Governor discussed the on-going urban development, infrastructure development and housing projects in Punjab In meeting with the Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and Jal Shakti, Kataria raised the issue of depleting groundwater in the state and pressed the need for strengthen the projects for restoration of the groundwater level and providing safe drinking water to the people. Throughout these meeting, Kataria urged the Union Ministers for faster execution of on-going projects and better synergy between the Centre, Stare and Union Territory Administration for addressing the aspirations of the people of Punjab and Chandigarh |
