| NSS Special Winter Camp 2025, day four emphasizes wellness practices, environmental responsibility | | | early times report
Jammu, Dec 26: The fourth day of the NSS Special Winter Camp 2025 at Government Degree College, Kakryal, Katra, was observed on 26 December 2025 through a structured set of activities aimed at promoting physical well-being, environmental awareness, and community engagement. The programme was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Rajni Bhagat, the worthy Principal of the college. The day commenced with a morning assembly to establish a disciplined and reflective environment for the volunteers. This was followed by session I which was on practical yoga session conducted by Faculty Dr. Ishfaq (PTI), with active participation from faculty members Dr. Amreen and Ms. Somalaya accompanying the volunteers. The session underscored the functional relevance of yoga in enhancing physical fitness, mental composure, and overall well-being. The Session II included an awareness lecture on the significance of plantation which was delivered by Dr. Usha Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, who highlighted the ecological, social, and ethical dimensions of afforestation. Emphasizing sustainable living and environmental accountability, she conveyed the message, “Plant Today, Protect Tomorrow” urging volunteers to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives. T he volunteers were also engaged in a poster-making activity, which provided a creative platform to articulate concerns related to environmental conservation, climate responsibility, and sustainable development. In session III, an awareness rally and plantation drive was organized. The rally reached the temple area and a plantation drive was conducted around the temple premises of the adopted village Dadura, integrating community participation with environmental action. A total of 40 volunteers from Semesters I, III, and V participated in the programme. Light refreshments were also provided to the volunteers. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Usha Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, ensuring the smooth conduct of the day’s activities. The day concluded with a strengthened sense of civic responsibility and collective commitment, reaffirming the NSS motto of “Not Me, But You.”
