Jammu, Jan 25: Jammu & Kashmir Bank, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative Project RISE (Respecting Identities | Promoting Equality), conducted a series of gender sensitization and self-defence awareness programmes in Baramulla district. The initiative was implemented by Live For Others – Being Helpful Foundation (LFO-BHF) as part of its outreach across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, with the aim of fostering equality, dignity, mutual respect, and personal safety among students.
Under Project RISE, awareness sessions were organized at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Baramulla; Government Girls Middle School, Baramulla; Government Higher Secondary School, Gund Khwaja Qasim; and Muslim Educational Trust, Sapore. The sessions were conducted by resource person Ms. Aparna, who sensitized students on gender sensitivity, respectful behaviour, and inclusive social attitudes.
Special emphasis was laid on self-defence awareness, during which students were introduced to basic practical techniques to enhance personal safety, build confidence, and respond effectively in challenging situations. Through these sessions, a total of 637 students were sensitized across various institutions in Baramulla district.
While addressing the students, the resource person stated that the programme aimed to empower youth by integrating awareness with action, ensuring that students not only understand the importance of equality and respect but also develop essential self-protection skills.
The programme witnessed active participation from students, teachers, and school authorities, who appreciated the relevance and interactive approach of the sessions. The discussions and demonstrations encouraged meaningful engagement and reinforced the importance of sensitivity, safety, and responsible conduct in daily life.
