Jammu, Jan 25: To commemorate the 16th National Voters’ Day, Keshav Chopra, Chairman of the Samvedna Society along with Booth Level Officer Poonam Gupta led a special initiative today to distribute Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) among local residents and first-time voters. The event, held in Jammu, aligned with this year’s national theme, "My India, My Vote," highlighting the central role of citizens in the heart of Indian democracy.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, Keshav Chopra underscored the importance of the day, which marks the foundation of the Election Commission of India. He remarked that the Voter ID card is not merely a piece of identification but a badge of empowerment and a sacred responsibility. Chopra specifically reached out to the youth, noting that first-time voters are the architects of the nation’s future and that their active participation is vital for a vibrant and inclusive democratic process. He emphasized that every single vote acts as a building block for a stronger, more developed India.
During the program, several young voters were formally welcomed into the electoral fold. Chopra took the time to educate the new electors on the ethical importance of voting, urging them to exercise their franchise with pride and independence. He noted that the Samvedna Society remains committed to ensuring that every eligible citizen, particularly those from marginalized sections and the younger generation, is registered and aware of their constitutional rights.
The event concluded with the administration of the National Voters' Day pledge, where participants vowed to uphold the democratic traditions of the country and the dignity of free, fair, and peaceful elections. The initiative by the Samvedna Society was widely appreciated by the locals, who lauded the organization's consistent efforts in bridging the gap between the administration and the public through various social welfare and awareness drives.
