1/25/2026 9:43:05 PM
Early Times Report

Udhampur, Jan 25: A detailed sensitization programme on the newly introduced government scheme VBG–RAMG, envisioned as an employment-oriented initiative in place of MGNREGA, was organised in Mandal Majalta. The programme was chaired by Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Udhampur East, who was the main speaker on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Ranbir Singh Pathania informed that VBG–RAMG is a progressive step by the government aimed at ensuring sustainable livelihood opportunities, with special focus on women, vulnerable sections, and marginalised groups. He explained that the scheme has been designed to go beyond traditional wage employment by promoting dignity of labour, social security, and inclusive participation, while simultaneously addressing issues related to gender-based vulnerabilities.
The MLA emphasised that proper awareness at the grassroots level is essential for effective implementation of the scheme. He urged Mandal-level functionaries and community representatives to ensure that the benefits of VBG–RAMG reach the deserving households, particularly those earlier dependent on MGNREGA. He also highlighted the importance of transparency, social accountability, and community monitoring to make the scheme successful.
Speaking on the broader social impact, Pathania stated that VBG–RAMG is not only an employment scheme but also a tool for social sensitization, aimed at reducing inequalities and empowering weaker sections through meaningful work opportunities. He assured full cooperation from his office in addressing implementation challenges and facilitating coordination between departments.
Prominent among those who remained present were Mohinder Singh, Mandal Pradhan, Capt. Gopal Singh, Gopal Sharma, Kewal Singh, Balbir, Shokat Ali, Devi Dass, Santosi Devi, and Deepa Rani. The participants appreciated the initiative and stressed the need for regular awareness programmes to ensure smooth transition and wider acceptance of the new scheme.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which participants raised queries related to registration, eligibility, and execution under VBG–RAMG. A collective resolve was taken to actively disseminate information about the scheme and work towards its effective implementation for strengthening livelihoods and social equity at the grassroots level.
