IIT Jammu inspires Young Minds through Hands-On Learning Experience

JAMMU, Jan 28: IIT Jammu hosted 79 students along with their teacher escorts from Shub International School, Akhnoor, for an educational visit organized by the Department of Outreach and Skill Development. The visit was conducted for students of Classes IX and X with the objective of fostering scientific curiosity and providing early exposure to advanced academic and research facilities.
The programme was organized under the guidance of the Director, Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur; Dean, Outreach and Skill Development, Prof. Meenakshi Rajeev; and Associate Dean, Dr. Sameer K. S. P.
Dean, Outreach and Skill Development, Prof. Meenakshi Rajeev, interacted with the students during the welcome session and encouraged them to pursue whichever career path they choose with passion, dedication, and zeal.
During the visit, students explored various state-of-the-art laboratories across the campus. In the Chemistry Laboratory, a polymer fabrication practical was conducted by the laboratory engineers, where students actively participated and learned about material processing by wrapping yarn produced during the experiment.
The visit continued at the Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory, where students were familiarized with road structures and relevant testing equipment. At the Environmental Engineering Laboratory, demonstrations on water purification processes and associated practical experiments provided insights into environmental sustainability and engineering solutions.
The visit provided an enriching hands-on learning experience, enabling students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications and inspiring them towards future pursuits in science and engineering.
