Samba police foils bovine smuggling attempt; seizes vehicle

SAMBA, Jan 28: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police has successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal and rescued a bovine. The vehicle used for transportation has also been seized.
A team of Police Post Rajpura of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at Lala Chak, signaled to stop a Swift car bearing registration No. JK02AA-0023 for its checking which was coming via Border Road. But the driver of the said vehicle accelerated the speed and ran away towards NHW Ghagwal. During the chase, the vehicle met with an accident near NHW Nonath after the driver lost control due to over speeding. Upon checking the vehicle, the police team found a bovine tied in a cruel manner and being transported illegally without any valid permission. The bovine was rescued and shifted to a safer place. The vehicle used in the commission of crime was seized.
A case FIR No. 11/2026 u/s 223, 281 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
