Jammu police nab scooty-borne drug peddler near Jagti

JAMMU, Jan 28: Jammu (Rural) Police achieved a significant success in its ongoing drive against narcotics by arresting a drug peddler and recovering a ganja-like substance in the Nagrota area.
On 28.01.2026, during naka checking near Sub-District Hospital, Jagti Colony, a police party led by PSI Rajat Kumar intercepted a scooty bearing registration number JK02DJ-3172, coming from NH-44 towards Migrant Colony, Jagti. On noticing the police naka, the rider attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the alert police personnel.
During the search, a ganja-like narcotic substance weighing approximately 322 grams was recovered from the scooty. The accused was identified as Vishal Koul, S/o Satish Koul, R/o 80/17, Jagti Migrant Colony, Nagrota, District Jammu. The recovered contraband was seized in accordance with legal procedures in the presence of a Magistrate.
Accordingly, FIR No. 23/2026 under Sections 8/20/25 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota. Further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward links of the drug network.
