MCM holds Slogan Writing Competition to raise awareness against drug abuse

CHANDIGARH, Jan 28: The Victory Against Drug Abuse (VADA) Club of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised a slogan writing competition on the theme 'Drug Abuse: Its Consequences and Preventive Measures' as part of the 77th Republic Day celebrations. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 30 students, reflecting their awareness and concern about the growing menace of drug abuse in society.
The competition was conducted in English, Hindi and Punjabi, providing an inclusive platform for students to express their ideas creatively and effectively. The primary objective of the event was to sensitise students about the harmful and illicit effects of drug abuse on individuals, families and society at large, while also highlighting the importance of preventive measures. In the competition, the first position was bagged by Ms. Gurmanjot Kaur (B.A. I), followed by Ms. Manveer Kaur, who secured the second position. The third position was secured by Ms. Simar Rayat (B.Sc. CSA I), while the consolation prize was won by Ms. Kushi Joshi (B.A. I). The winners were felicitated with cash prizes and certificates.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma congratulated the winners and appreciated the sincere efforts of the event coordinators for successfully organising the programme and promoting a strong message against drug abuse. She cautioned the students against the dangers of drug abuse and underscored the pivotal role of youth in building a healthy and drug-free nation.
