Chandigarh, Jan 29: The seven-day and night NSS Camp-‘Shakti 3.0’, organised at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, culminated successfully with a thoughtfully curated finale that encapsulated the spirit of learning, reflection and community service.
The concluding day began with an expert session on ‘Urbanisation and the Challenge of Inclusive Urbanism’ by Prof. Kulwinder Kaur, Department of Sociology; Honorary Director, Centre for Comparative Religions and Civilizations; and Honorary Director, MMTTC, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. The session sensitised NSS volunteers to the complexities of rapid urban expansion and underscored the importance of equitable, sustainable and people-centric urban planning. Prof. Kaur encouraged the participants to critically engage with issues of accessibility, inclusivity and social responsibility in contemporary urban spaces.
This was followed by the valedictory ceremony, during which volunteers who demonstrated exceptional talent, enthusiasm and commitment throughout the camp were felicitated. Awards were presented for various competitions and activities organised during the camp, including the talent hunt, declamation contest, hand painting and other creative engagements. The valedictory ceremony was graced by Dr. Parveen Goyal, Associate Professor, UIET, Panjab University, and NSS Programme Coordinator, Panjab University.
Appreciating the dedication, discipline and active participation of the volunteers, Dr. Goyal highlighted the pivotal role of NSS in nurturing socially conscious and responsible citizens. He commended Shakti 3.0 for offering a holistic platform that seamlessly integrated skill development, creativity and civic awareness.
