DLSA Srinagar organizes awareness Program on JJ Act, Child Rights

SRINAGAR, Jan 29: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar today organized an awareness programme on the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and Child Rights, at observation home, Harwan, Srinagar, aimed at sensitizing participants about the legal safeguards available for children. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman DLSA (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge) Srinagar and overall supervision of Secretary DLSA Srinagar.
Deputy Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC), Zeenat, acted as the resource person and delivered an insightful session on the Juvenile Justice Act, highlighting its objectives, key provisions, and the rights of children in need of care and protection as well as children in conflict with law.
Another session was conducted by Panel Lawyer, DLSA Srinagar, who elaborated on the role and functioning of the Legal Services Unit for Children (LSUC). The participants were explained how LSUC works to ensure legal aid, protection, rehabilitation, and welfare of children through coordination with various stakeholders.
The programme witnessed active participation, and the speakers emphasized the importance of awareness and collective responsibility in safeguarding child rights. DLSA Srinagar reiterated its commitment to promoting legal awareness and ensuring access to justice for children through such initiatives.
