Early Times Report
SAMBA, Jan 31: The President of the All Jammu and Kashmir Jatt Sabha and former Minister, S. Manjit Singh, has expressed gratitude to the Government of India and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for naming Kathua Railway Station after Indian Army Captain Choudhary Sunil, who was martyred while fighting for the country.
In a statement to the press, S. Manjit Singh appreciated the step taken by the LG, recognising the sacrifice of the son of the soil who served in the Indian Army and laid down his life for the nation.
"The LG has fulfilled the demand of the family members of martyred Capt. Choudhary Sunil," he said. He added that members of the community have played a significant role in defending the country in 1947, 1965, 1971, and during the Kargil War in 1999, making supreme sacrifices like other soldiers.
"The younger generation of the Jatt community has always considered the defence of the country as their prime profession and moral duty, while their families live along the border belt in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Rajouri-Poonch," he recalled, highlighting their bravery in facing the enemy.
These border dwellers serve the nation as the first line of defence after the men in uniform, both along the International Border and the Line of Control.
