Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 11: The CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu on Wednesday concluded its three-day Skill Development Training Programme on Gas Chromatography (GC) with a valedictory session. The training programme brought together students and researchers from various institutions and aimed to strengthen practical understanding of advanced analytical techniques used in research and industry.
During the valedictory session, participants shared their feedback and highlighted that the programme helped them gain hands-on experience in sample preparation, instrument handling, chromatographic analysis and data processing using GC-MS systems.
Many participants said the exposure to sophisticated analytical instruments and laboratory practices would be valuable for their future research work.
Addressing the gathering, Director CSIR-IIIM Jammu Dr. Zabeer Ahmed said that although the training programme was of short duration, the positive feedback from participants indicated the impact of such skill-development initiatives.
He emphasised that institutions like CSIR-IIIM play an important role in bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical laboratory training.
Dr. Ahmed said the institute has been actively promoting job-oriented skill development courses in life sciences and analytical techniques.
He also highlighted the growing importance of hands-on training under the framework of the National Education Policy, which encourages practical exposure alongside academic learning.
He informed participants that CSIR-IIIM has established incubation centres and innovation facilities to support young researchers and entrepreneurs who wish to transform their scientific ideas into products and technologies.
He encouraged students to explore opportunities in research, industry and start-ups, noting that advanced analytical skills open doors to diverse career avenues in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and allied sectors.
Earlier, Principal Scientist Dr. Nasir ul Rasheed said that CSIR-IIIM has recently launched specialised job-role based training courses, including "Assistant Chemist in HPLC" and "Assistant Chemist in GC", which run for four to six months.
He informed that these courses are approved by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and the Life Sciences Sector Skill Council, and aim to enhance employability of students through industry-relevant training.
