JAMMU, Mar 14: Dr. S. P. Varma, a noted peace activist, highly decorated volunteer and recipient of the Padma Shri, has been appointed as the UT Level Election Icon for Jammu & Kashmir, as communicated by the Nodal Officer (SVEEP) office of the Chief Electoral Officer. The appointment aims to strengthen voter awareness, outreach and engagement across the Union Territory under the directives of the Election Commission of India.
Dr. S P Varma, widely known for promoting peace, volunteerism, communal harmony and national integration, will support initiatives encouraging citizens to participate actively in the democratic process. The position is purely honorary and non-remunerative. |
