| Bharat Priye leads protest in border villages over bunker construction | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 14: Chairman of the Kissan Department of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Bharat Priye, under banner of Border farmers Welfare Association today led a strong protest in the border villages of Indira Colony and Nai Basti, raising serious concerns over the alleged selective construction of bunkers in villages along the international border. During the protest, Bharat Priye interacted with local residents and farmers who voiced their grievances regarding the construction of bunkers on what they described as a "pick-and-choose basis," leaving out many deserving families who frequently face the brunt of unprovoked firing from across the border. The protest highlighted the growing dissatisfaction among border residents who feel neglected despite living under constant threat due to their proximity to the border. Addressing the gathering, Bharat Priye strongly criticized the authorities for ignoring the genuine needs of the people residing in vulnerable border belts. He said that bunkers were meant to provide safety and protection to families during incidents of cross-border firing, and therefore they should be constructed strictly on the basis of necessity rather than favoritism or selective considerations. He asserted that the people of border areas are the true defenders of the nation who continue to live in their homes and cultivate their fields despite facing repeated threats and hardships. "These families have shown remarkable courage and resilience. Even in the most difficult circumstances arising from unprovoked firing from across the border, they never abandon their land or their homes," he said. Bharat Priye demanded that the administration immediately conduct a proper survey of the affected border villages and ensure that bunkers are constructed for those families who genuinely require them for their safety. Apart from the issue of bunkers, he also highlighted the lack of basic facilities in many border villages, including adequate healthcare, road connectivity, drinking water supply, and other essential services. He said that people living in these areas often remain neglected despite playing a crucial role in safeguarding the country's borders through their presence and resilience.
The JKPCC Kissan Department Chairman further urged the government to pay special attention to the welfare and development of border communities. He emphasized that improving infrastructure and providing necessary safety measures would not only enhance the quality of life for residents but also strengthen the morale of people living in these sensitive regions.Local residents who joined the protest expressed hope that their long-pending demands would finally be addressed. They urged the administration to take immediate steps to ensure equitable construction of bunkers and to improve basic civic amenities in the border villages.Bharat Priye assured the people that he would continue to raise their concerns at appropriate forums and stand firmly with the residents of border areas in their struggle for safety, dignity, and development. |
