Standing With Victims
3/15/2026 10:51:37 PM
Campaign to provide justice to the families of the terror victims continues across Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday handed over appointment letters to 27 Next of Kins (NoKs) of civilian martyrs who were killed by the terrorists.
LG Sinha reiterated his resolve to secure justice for every terror victim’s family and announced that pending cases will be reopened to hold perpetrators accountable. Till date 400 NoKs of terror victims have been provided government jobs.
Employment enables these households to rebuild their lives, educate their children, and regain a sense of normalcy after years of trauma. It also sends a strong message that the sacrifices of innocent civilians will not be ignored.
The initiative launched from Baramulla last year has provided these families with support, courage, and renewed self-belief. The terror victim families have expressed gratitude to LG Sinha for feeling their pain and providing them with justice after a long wait.
Beyond the tangible benefits of employment, it has given victim families something even more valuable: hope. For many of them, the recognition of their pain by the authorities has brought a sense of closure after years of neglect. Their expressions of gratitude reflect how deeply such gestures resonate with those who have waited for justice and acknowledgment.
During the past three decades regimes came and went but it was LG Sinha who came forward and acknowledged the sacrifice of the terror victim families.
Equally significant is the Lieutenant Governor’s assurance that pending cases related to terror victims will be reopened so that perpetrators can be held accountable. Justice delayed has often been justice denied for many families in Jammu and Kashmir. By revisiting unresolved cases, the administration is acknowledging the need to restore faith in the rule of law. Accountability for crimes committed during the years of violence is essential for lasting peace and reconciliation.
It is also important to recognize that this campaign highlights a moral responsibility that governments must uphold. Societies affected by conflict must ensure that victims and their families are supported and remembered. When the state stands firmly with those who suffered at the hands of terror, it reinforces the collective resolve against violence and extremism.
By standing with the victims and ensuring their dignity, the administration is helping to build a more just and compassionate society—one that remembers the past while striving for a peaceful future.
